Trump Highlights Economic Ties with Israel Amid Stated High Approval Rating

by admin477351

In a recent exchange with reporters, former US President Donald Trump expressed his admiration for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and suggested his own popularity in Israel was so high that he could feasibly run for the position of Prime Minister. Trump, who was addressing inquiries about Netanyahu and the Israeli stance on Iran, praised the Israeli leader, describing him as a “great guy” and asserting that Netanyahu would act in accordance with his wishes.

Trump further claimed that Netanyahu, whom he referred to as a “wartime prime minister,” was not receiving fair treatment in Israel. He humorously speculated about his popularity in the country, stating, “I’m right now at 99% in Israel. I could run for prime minister. So maybe after I do this, I’ll go to Israel, run for prime minister.” He mentioned having a poll that showed his high approval rating, reinforcing his light-hearted suggestion of running for office there.

Amidst these comments, Trump also criticized the dynamics of Israeli leadership, suggesting that the current president of Israel was treating Netanyahu poorly. This discussion occurs as Israeli lawmakers, led by Netanyahu’s ruling coalition, push forward a bill that could lead to the dissolution of parliament and potentially trigger new elections.

The conversation took place against the backdrop of increasing tensions with Iran. Trump indicated that the United States was reaching a critical juncture concerning Iran, suggesting that decisive actions were imminent. “We’re in the final stages of Iran. We’ll see what happens,” Trump commented, hinting at the possibility of a deal or more aggressive measures if necessary. He emphasized that although not in a rush, they were prepared to take significant steps.

Further emphasizing the potential for military conflict, Trump reportedly stated that Iran’s air force and navy had been largely incapacitated, warning that any future military actions could become more challenging if Tehran failed to reach a deal. Despite the rising tensions, diplomatic negotiations between Washington and Tehran are said to be ongoing, with efforts to reach a peaceful resolution continuing.
