China Calls on Israel to Cease West Bank Settlements and Aid Gaza Crisis

by admin477351

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has called on Israel to halt the expansion of settlements in the occupied West Bank and to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. His comments came during a meeting with Israeli President Isaac Herzog at a conference in Azerbaijan, as reported by China’s Foreign Ministry.

Wang emphasized China’s longstanding stance that the Palestinian issue is a significant historical injustice that requires a political resolution. He stressed the importance of expanding humanitarian access to Gaza, citing the deteriorating humanitarian conditions there. Wang also expressed China’s willingness to collaborate with the international community to renew dialogue and seek a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

China has consistently advocated for a two-state solution, aiming for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel. Additionally, Beijing has supported Palestinian reconciliation efforts and diplomatic initiatives to ease tensions throughout the Middle East.

During the discussions, President Herzog highlighted Israel’s commitment to peace while also addressing security concerns, particularly those related to Iran and its regional allies. He noted that the talks with Wang also covered the broader regional situation and bilateral relations.

The situation in Gaza remains precarious despite a ceasefire that began in October 2025. Issues such as Israeli airstrikes, displacement, and ongoing humanitarian challenges persist. Progress towards implementing the next phase of the ceasefire has stalled, with both Israel and Hamas accusing each other of violations.

The recent dialogue between China and Israel underscores the international community’s continued efforts to find solutions to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, improve humanitarian conditions in Gaza, and revive diplomatic negotiations.
