The Texas School for the Deaf, where Hottle was a student, released a statement confirming the loss, offering heartfelt condolences to her family and community.

The accident occurred in Frederick, Maryland, early Tuesday morning, according to local authorities. The vehicle involved, a 1995 Honda Accord, reportedly veered off the road and collided with a culvert. Investigators have suggested that excessive speed may have played a role in the crash. Hottle was a passenger in the car and was transported to a nearby trauma center, where she was later pronounced dead.

The driver, a 19-year-old, sustained injuries that were not considered life-threatening, while another passenger in the vehicle chose not to receive medical attention. The incident has cast a shadow over the many lives Hottle touched, both personally and through her work in film.
