In a bid to amplify its role in the artificial intelligence sector, Kazakhstan is exploring opportunities to establish itself as a global hub for physical AI. This strategic move comes on the heels of a meeting between NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on October 23 in Astana, where they discussed potential collaborations in AI and digital innovation.
President Tokayev emphasized the significance of the partnership with NVIDIA, reaffirming Kazakhstan’s ambition to evolve into an AI-driven nation. He underscored that artificial intelligence and digitalisation are national priorities, noting that the year 2026 has been designated as the Year of Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence in the country. Tokayev also expressed support for NVIDIA’s collaboration with the technology company Higgsfield.
Huang commended Kazakhstan’s aspirations and proposed developing the nation into a center for physical AI, which involves integrating artificial intelligence with tangible systems like robots, autonomous machines, and industrial equipment. He highlighted the country’s potential, citing its energy resources and the availability of skilled professionals in science, mathematics, and technology as crucial elements for advancing AI development.
During the meeting, Huang noted the progress made in NVIDIA’s partnerships with local tech businesses, describing it as the foundation of a long-term collaboration. This synergy is seen as a stepping stone towards positioning Kazakhstan as a key player in the physical AI realm.
In recognition of his contributions to advancing artificial intelligence in Kazakhstan, President Tokayev awarded Jensen Huang the Order of Dostyk. This accolade underlines the importance Kazakhstan places on its growing role in the AI sector and its collaborative efforts with leading global technology companies like NVIDIA.
