In a bid to enhance economic collaboration, Kazakhstan and Germany have committed to deepening their bilateral relations, with a focus on investment, infrastructure, industry, and transport. This development follows talks between Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin on September 29, where they discussed the progress in their partnership and outlined future cooperation opportunities.
Germany is recognized as a key strategic partner for Kazakhstan in Europe, a sentiment echoed by President Tokayev during his visit. To bolster this partnership, Tokayev proposed the creation of a Kazakhstan-Germany Investment and Financial Platform aimed at supporting joint projects and facilitating mutual investments.
Engagement with German business leaders was a significant component of Tokayev’s visit, where discussions centered around collaboration in various sectors such as transport and logistics, industrial localization, engineering, metallurgy, and waste processing. Key topics included the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and the modernization of Kazakhstan’s railway infrastructure, alongside efforts to expand the country’s manufacturing capabilities.
The talks also explored the potential for German companies to engage in industrial and infrastructure projects within Kazakhstan, providing them with greater access to the larger Central Asian market. This venture holds promise for mutual economic benefits and strengthens the ties between the two countries.
