In a remarkable display of bravery, four passengers on a flydubai flight from Dubai to Israel played a crucial role in averting a potential airborne disaster. Israeli President Isaac Herzog has recognized their heroic efforts and intends to recommend them for the Presidential Award for Civilian Heroism.

The incident unfolded when a confrontation occurred in the aircraft’s cockpit, resulting in one pilot attacking the other. The injured pilot was quickly aided by Dr. Shota Musayev, who provided medical assistance while the plane was still in the air. Meanwhile, passengers Yaniv Hayoun, Zvika Manes, and Asaf Rajuan stepped up to subdue the attacker, taking swift action to ensure the safety of everyone on board.

Hayoun, who was among those who physically restrained the attacker, also assisted with the aircraft’s controls, contributing to the safe handling of the situation. The plane was eventually forced to make an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia, where the situation was brought under control.

President Herzog praised the passengers for their courage and quick-thinking actions, which he said were instrumental in protecting lives. He also extended his gratitude to the Indian captain, Smit Machchhar, for his commendable actions during the crisis.

In recognition of their valor, Herzog plans to present the actions of Hayoun, Musayev, Manes, and Rajuan to the advisory committee tasked with considering candidates for the Presidential Award for Civilian Heroism. This gesture underscores the importance of their contributions during the emergency.
